Hi Majorie,

Randonneuring, known in the UK as Audax, is a cycling event where you will
need to qualify for certain set distances within an allotted period of
time.  Riders are unsupported and must be self sufficient.  They must
acquire stamps or signatures from predefined pit stops so there's no room
for cheating.  Most riders will eventually want to qualify themselves to
enter the PBP, but before they can do that, they must build up their
endurance and stamina to complete the 1200km event within I think 72 hrs??
 And that 1200km can comprise of a lot of mountain passes.
