Well, I have just gone through this little drill and
here is some real life info. I had taken some 20 x
1.375 tubes with me and the NWTR. While there I had a
flat and noticed that the sidewall of that tire had a
big crack and having neglected to take extra tires
with me, I decided to have the bike shop mount the
tire for me. Well, the 20x1.375 was WAY to big. He
found a smaller tube and used it although it was still
a little too big. Back in Ventura I went to the BF web
site and found that they had a table in their tech web
site and they recommended the 18x1 3/8 tube for use
with the Comet 406. Down to LBS where they did not
have any 18x1 3/8 tubes. They searched through all
their catalogs and could only come up with a 18x1 3/8
with presta valve, not Schrader. Looked in recently
arrived BF catalog and they did not list a 18x1 3/8
tube in their catalog. So, I called them and was
advised that they do stock an 18x1 3/8 Schrader valve
tube. It's got Kendra on the side. I got 4 of them. I
don't know about going to Wallymart or Targette to buy
tubes as Walter recommended, but I will peruse their
stock although I really doubt that they will have them
as the Wallymart in Oxnard is the worst retail store
in the world -- I would rather have a root canal than
go in there and the local Targette has pretty limited
bike supplies. I haven't installed the 18x1 3/8 tubes
yet, although as soon as I am finished going through
my e-mail, I am headed out for some bike work in the
garage. Will post results.
