Not exactly on the topic of the hammock, but on the issue of getting a tent up in the rain. I find this is a major flaw of many so-called backcountry tents. I have gone on many bike trips where there was no choice but to set a tent in heavy rain. I found the Saunders Spacepackers tents from the UK a great choice, you can set them up in the rain without getting the inside wet.

Yes, it takes a few times to learn how to set it up. (Practice before
you go out the first time.) But, now I can set it up much faster than my
tent and it only requires one person, whereas my tent is best to be done
by two people. It will also stay bone dry while setting it up in the
