Wayne did a great job of summarizing the Illinois Great Rivers Ride of 2007. Yet,
there is so much to say about this ride, I can't resist adding more. In a word, this
ride is DELUXE!

Most bring their own tent and pitch and pack it themselves. However, there are two
other options at additional cost. You may choose to stay in one of the designated
motels each night. Of course you pay extra for your room, but there is no extra
charge to be driven to and from meals and entertainment by the friendly IGRR staff.

Like to camp, but want someone else to pitch and pack a tent for you? No problem.
New in '07 was the option to pay a tent service to provide a tent and cot.

A 16-stall shower truck sets up in the campground each afternoon. Almost no waiting
for a hot shower. Soap, shampoo and towels are provided.

As great as this ride is, and I have ridden all three on my Air Glide, it has never
filled up to the 250-rider limit. You don't have to stay at your computer until
midnight to get your bid in the minute registration opens. It might get a greater
following if it didn't occur after Labor Day when school is in session and the
vacation season is over.

Rumor has it that the route in '08 will be in the southern end of the state.
Beautiful country, but depending on the route, it could be very hilly. I plan to be
there on my AG wherever it goes.
