If the diversity of topics and volume of messages become more than
people want to deal with, one way to go is to convert an e-mail list
to a forum system so people can check in only on topics that interest
them. The e-mail list of Massbike, the Massachusetts advocacy group,
will convert soon for that reason. It especially helps to give helmet
and anti-helmet warriors and bike lane/anti bike lane fanatics their
own very special dedicated online battlefields :-)

But on the other hand, travel is broadening, as the saying goes, and
that includes travel to other people's areas of interest. I
personally don't find the Yak list too much to deal with.
