I believe the 52cm refers to the length of the main tube from headset to seat tube. I am not sure where the measurement is taken (outside, inside, tube centers).

This is a welded tube and is the primary sizing element of a BF. All other stuff (seat tube height, bar height and position) are relatively easy to adjust.

The seat tube and bar stem are elongated from a regular bike so that you sit higher above the axis of the smaller wheels. This is why the BF handles nearly the same as a 26" or 700C bike - - the wheelbase, rake, trail, etc. are all pretty much the same.

I've heard regular bikes referred to as 15", 17", etc and I think this is the crank-to-seat-tube-top dimension.

Maybe somebody with more in-depth knowledge than me can chip in more info.

G.

I have wanted a Bike Friday for years, and have now decided I can wait
no longer.
I'm looking for a used Bike Friday preferably a Crusoe.
When looking at the used Bike Fridays they are sized 52, 60 cm. etc.
Is a 52 cm Bike Friday equivalent to a standard non folding 52 cm bike?

Please help me determine the size of this Bike Friday?

The bike measures 18" from the center of the crank to the top of the
seat tube and has a virtual top tube of approximately 20 1/2".

Thanks for any help
Pat
