Ok, I enjoyed reading all the responses. Maybe I was too strong in my suggestion for the recall. I wonder how you guys will react if you have ever had a bike ride that you had to stop to adjust the gear everytime you pedaled harder. I have built about 9 bikes now and have done quite well with them. I have never had a bike problem that I couldn't resolve. I have the Park tool book as well as two other books that I refer to when I build vintage bikes. I have read the dual drive manual even before the bike arrived to my house. I have read the bike friday manual and watched Tim Link in You tube. I also ride almost daily with a weekly average of 150-200. Being that I am inexperienced with a sram dual drive, I finally decided to seek help elsewhere. The 5 best mechanics here adjusted the bike well each time - only to slip again after my first ride. Now I have spent $55 to 3 bikes shops plus have a stack of inner tubes and lubricants to those that didn't charge me (yes I could have bought them bagels I suppose) and I still have a problem with my gears - on a relatively brand new bike. I thought I have found the problem when i discovered while fixing a flat that my cassette was loose (it came assembled from the factory) but that only solved the rear shifting. I agree that Tim at Bike Friday service has been very accommodating. I hope he fixes this problem permanently and I will be glad to write up my wonderful experiences with Bike Friday. It is disheartening though to read someone's entry that after Bike Friday has serviced the hub that it has happened again. What's the assurance that it will not happen to me or other dd tandem owners? Now if I have to pedal slightly backwards in order for the gear to engage or I have to gingerly shift the sti each time to avoid falling "in between" gears then something is terribly wrong with dual drive. Thanks for all the responses, please continue to post potential solutions to the problem. To those who disapprove negative postings to this site, I hope we get to ride sometime and maybe you can see for yourself where I'm coming from. sincerely, vince
