Double crush protectors aren't a bad idea in general, but the trouble 
that has been described isn't with bent cranks, it's a bent 
chainwheel where it bangs into the side of the Travelcase. Andrejs 
has been fortunate -- this happened to me with a 46-tooth chainring. 
Several suggestions have been made on this list, amounting either to 
removing the crank or making a spacer to keep the chainwheel away 
from the side of the case. Search the list and you will find the details.
