I bought one new in 1972 and I believe I paid $200. That seemed like a lot
of money then.

 At that time a Raleigh International or a Schwinn Paramount was $400. I
ended up buying a Peugeot PX10E for $180.


the Vitamix is still working fine. I occasionally have to replace the gasket
on the Lexan top.

I also still have the Peugeot. Only the frame and the crankset are original,
but I seldom ride it.


A friend bought a Schwinn Parmount at the same time. Everything is original.
He still rides that.

So the Vitamix is probably worth the $400 to $600 they go for these days.
