we are encountering a common issue on building our New World Tourist -
Just wondering if anyone has any comments on using either of the following:

1) Capreo 9-26 with a triple chainrings 50/39/30

or

2) Standard 9 speed 11-32 cassette with XT hub, and a 50/39/30 chainring (or 52/39/30 if available)

we plan on using drop bars, 406 wheels/high pressure Stelvio tires and doing credit card touring (or some unloaded rides)

Any comments from those who have purchased similar gearing in regards to

Durability of either (need to replace Capreo cassette frequently?)
do you find higher gearing lacking with standard gearing?

( I calculated about 85-88 gear inches at top gear with standard gearing as opposed to 104 gear inches at top end with Capreo) We are not concerned about low gearing for either of the above options, but would appreciate any thoughts anyone might have regarding this issue)

might add that I have noted mixed opinions on the web regarding Capreo

Thanks,

Leigh D
