[Yak] Tough Tires?

I have been having a serious problem with flats of late and am wondering if upgrading from the high pressure marathon 406 I'm using now to the smartguard version could help? The cost is much higher but this flat with every ride of late is getting old. I've had a combination of punctures, patch failures, tube blowouts, valve stem tears and more. The last few days I'm getting by (sort of) running some 20" BMX presta valve tubes pumped to about 60 lbs instead of the 85-90 lbs I typically run with kenda tubes.

Any one got some good tricks to toughen things up? I'm typically riding paved trails and bike lanes and things just seem a lot rougher this time of year.
